We have encountered them before Klauth – a Red Dragon – one of the oldest dragons in the land flew overhead as they approached the temple, with Harshnagg. Now he is watching them. He is incredibly evil. There are famous stories of him joining battles, he’s one of the oldest dragons alive. Red dragons are generally evil, breathe fire. |
| Last week (flash backs) | They ask some more questions of the Oracle (below) and learn they they need to go to the burial grounds of the Utgard to collect relics to prove their worth. Harshnagg explains there are many tribes of Uthgard and many burial grounds. They worship different types of deities. He knows these burial grounds. He draws them a map (see the journal in Foundry). Harshnagg stays behind to guard the portal and they leave on a treacherous journey, first activating the mechanisms to lift the great storms and exit the temple. The red air-ship High above they notice a flash of red amongst the white sky. It drifts towards them slowly. As it approaches it seems to be a seafaring ship of some kind, with sleigh runners like skis on its base. It is held by a giant red balloon. It descends until it hovers just above the causeway. A rope ladder unfurls down in front of them. The snow swirls. They climb up, Gunther climbing almost before it reaches the ground. They see figures beckoning them up, dressed in black leather with black leather masks. We come to you on behalf of Klauth, the great dragon of the north. He offers the ship and their services. The war with the giants is inevitable. Come meet your destiny. The Ordening is broken. Slay their leaders and you will prevail. Come to his hidden vale to be rewarded for your bravery. They all stand waiting. Gunther accepts the offer. Under the balloon is a furnace with a grill in front. Something is dashing about in there. The craft begins to rise up. Inside is no ordinary fire. It is a fire elemental trapped in a bronze furnace. The grills on all sides point up, down and in front. They explore the rest of the ship. There are quarters below with hammocks. They find provisions and a staircase up to the deck. A trapped air elemental powers the propeller. They rest, eat and relax for the half-day journey, and have some discussions about this strange turn of events, aware they are being watched by Klauth. Leshanna is uncomfortable with such easy alignment with evil. |
| Oracle questions | How do we restore the Ordening? The only one to do it is the Allfather. He disrupted it to rouse his children from their complacency. Only he restores the ordening. How can we get the Allfather to restore the ordering? Root out evil in the court of the Storm Giants – the storm giant King Hecaton. You must visit King Hecaton’s court. How can we travel safely to the court of the Storm Giants? You must find King Hecaton’s conch to transport you there and root out the evil How can we find people or items to restore the ordering, including (and especially the conch)? You must prove your worth by finding some treasure. Barbarian kind built altars to Rutgar, their king atop these relics and surrounded the area with burial mounds. Go there and find the lost relics and bring them here to the All-Father as tributes. There are many paths. The more relics you bring, the more paths will be open to you. What more can you tell us about the missing King and the evil in the court of Hecaton? The evil in the court is from multiple sources, the King was undermined by his daughters Miran and Nimh, his daughters covet the throne. Where can we find 5 magical weapons that will help us in our battle? Giants do not entertain small-folk weapons. There is one weapon – the coral nora sceptre, wielded by Cerisa, the one who sits on the Storm giant throne. The daughter of King Hecaton. It is amongst the most powerful weapons known to giant-kind. |
