Last week (flash backs)At the yak villageWithin the Mill is an enormous water wheel, there is an opening, but they need to climb the axil to get to it. There is a millstone and bags of flour, shovels and other tools. They meet some dwart slaves who have been there some time. They learn that as well as flour the mill controls a massive elevator. Some of their friends from Citadel Adbar were taken as well.
Gnomes, Moon Elves, Halflings, a half orc – all have been freed. There’s a sense that something else is going on – they have an extra fear.
Miss Moss continues to talk to the tied-up yak folk. She threatens them with a switchblade. “What’s going on down in the hill?”
The yak folk are there with the blessing of the Fire Giants. The Chief made an alliance with the fire giants. They bring slaves to them in the mountain and the Fire Giants protect them. But it’s not a very good deal. The giants are in the hill. The yak folk haven’t been there. If the slaves go down, they don’t come back. Elves with dark skin have been going in and out.
The yak folk do not want to join the adventurers.
They have not seen any wood elves.
They accidentally start a whole ethical debate amongst the slaves about what to do with the remaining, live yak folk. Miss Moss stands up on a dead yak folk and asks them all for some help with some questions.
The yak folk go and get slaves, they capture them and perform a ritual – they crawl under their skin and inhabit the body and become that creature.
There was a group of dwarves and inside the tent, the chief oversaw a terrible ritual where the yak folk crawled under the skin of the dwarves and they returned to the Citadel to kill the king.
Londer strides purposefully over to the yak folk and nonchalantly lops off his arm and asks him about the dwarves and if there’s any safe way to get into the mountain. The yak man screams. There is a big set of doors downstairs where giants and elves have been coming in and out. There is also a door up the top where there have been giants.
They have a team meeting. Leshanna sets an alarm and Miss Moss sets up some booby traps. They all rest.
Journey to the forestLia takes Thoradin and the princess on Keanareeves and they fly down to a nice waterfall to spend the night.  Thoradin casts Glyph of Warding.
Moon elf scouts arrive and they see each other. One of them dives into the river and swims across and greets her.  She assures them she’s ok and has been rescued. They thank Thoradin and Lia profusely, they have nothing of value to give but they are welcome anytime. Hellani hugs them.  Lia bows deeply and they all begin some elven formalities while Thoradin grows uncomfortable.
Thoradin and Lia sleep. When they wake, Lia has a sense of the forest connecting with her. She has been blessed. Both of them have been given a charm overnight, the charm of the Slayer. One weapon becomes a giant slayer for the next 5 days. Lia’s long bow and Thoradin’s warhammer are now giant slayers.
Back at the yak village, the adventurers are holding a committee meeting where each slave is getting up to talk about their experiences and their feelings, and about how the specific alive yaks treated them. Miss Moss gets the sense that slaving is something that the yak folk have been forced to do. Rather, the giants chose them because they are quite good at slavery.
There’s a little debate about who should make the decision and whether they should dig a well, but then Londer nonchalantly lops off both their heads.  They do some other things with the dead carcasses and throw them off the cliff.
They’ve been warned of a three headed creature that sometimes flies overhead. It’s ok, they explain they turned it into a snail.
At Citadel Adbar Thoradin and Lia seek audience with the king. He knows of them very well. Thoradin explains the danger and the patrol that has returned. As the king recounts the story, everyone who wasn’t on the patrol turns and looks at the group who have returned. A tension mounts then blades are drawn in an enormous battle. The patrol is completely out numbered. Before too long the dwarves are overcome and killed. As they die, the yak folk fall dead out of the bodies of the dwarves and lie on the ground. The dwarves stand alive, freed. There’s much celebration. They are lifted onto the shoulders of the dwarves. They drink a lot.
Back at the yak village, a swervy Keannareeves flies into the village. Thoradin still has a big flask of mead. Lia is giggling and has stolen a lamb from a farmer. There’s a sign from an inn. They both have mithral medals on their necks. Keannareeves crash lands and skids onto the ground.
The next day they wake. The slaves have all made their way off. They stand before the enormous doors that lead into the open. The waterwheel spins.
Miss Moss, Lia and Leshanna disguise themselves as Drow and Thoradin, Gunther and Londer (Florida Jake) disguise themselves as slaves. They put their unconcealed weapons in the bag of holding. Miss Moss pushes all the dead bodies off the cliff and kicks some dirt over the blood.
The prepare to open the doors. Keannareeves circles above.
They push to doors open and hear the stones rumbling. Before them they can see an enormous, domed room. Contraptions of cogs and wheels are spinning and a rope system hangs above an opening in the floor, the elevator. Before them there is a steel grate between them and the room. Inside there is some light coming in, the cogs and machines. There’s an enormous lever in the distance but without moving the grate they can’t get in.  They lift it and sneak under.
They can see the hole where the lift is on the left hand side of the room, and a corridor going the other way. A spiral staircase descends.
