Current locationSeat of the Allfather, the Spine of the World
Current journeyThe Frozen North·
A tremendously difficult journey at the coldest time of year·
Following an epic battle at Xantharl’s keep, Harshnagg the frost giant joined the party·
The Giant Ordening is disrupted, a hierarchy normally exists, with the following order:
o   Storm Giants at the top (monarchy)
o   Cloud Giantso   Frost Giants
o   Fire Giants
o   Stone Giants
o   Hill Giants·
The Giants are all trying to work out how to please the Allfather.·
The King (Hecaton) has gone missing. His queen and the whole court has gone and there is no-one sitting on the throne. His daughters have taken up running the kingdom.·

The giants are looking for a ring, they think it’s going to restore the ordening. The adamantine rods have been an attempt to please the Allfather·

Up in the spine of the world there is a place called the Eye of the Allfather – it’s a long and dangerous walk. Up there is an oracle.·

The Allfather may be willing to talk to the heroes, if not to the giants.
Current surroundingsThey are in the giant temple, The whole place is on a ramp, from West to East slanting upwards towards the staircase.  Each of the hallways leads to a room, where there are switches.
·On the western side, there are switches that control the stones, one on either side.
·       The north has a switch for one side and the south has a switch for the other
In one large 100ft high room with vaulted ceilings is a kind of temple, with gigantic statues of the various giants, each holding a weapon except the great Frost Giant Thrim is missing a weapon.
Each of the giant types is represented:
·       Hill giant – club
·       Stone giant – stone boulder
·       Fire giant – great sword
·       Frost giant – hand empty
·       Cloud giant – mithral spear
·       Storm giant – admantine trident

In the centre of the room there is one large robed statue that each of the others appear to be offering the weapons to. It is the Allfather. Around the giant doors are runes, and writing that says

Children of mine, enter in order
If ye seek to cross this border
Start with low, end with high
From the hills to the stormy sky
What just happenedAfter investigating the rooms and finding a giant dining room, they open the door at the north and encounter a boulder trap. After escaping, there is a stone giant that returned the boulder to its original space before returning to his plinth. With the danger passed, Narft takes them to large room with a cave fissure in the side, it appears not to be part of the structure. While Leshanna and Harshnagg stay back, the others move forward to explore. It’s too small for Harshnagg to enter, about 10 foot high and 5 foot wide. It’s hard to get their footing, everything is frosty. At the intersection, they hear a chittering sound. It’s spiders.Miss Moss calls Leshanna who begins to run to join them, but it’ll take a while. As we left, the others were in battle with the spiders. Miss Moss was webbed and Thoradin’s spirit guardians were tearing up one of the spiders.
Party/associatesHarshnagg the Frost Giant
Narft the barbarian who has joined them to find the chief’s cousin
Other recent encountersA white wyrmling and some barbarians – fought them at the entrance.
·       They charmed and captured Narft after defeating the others
·       Their chief’s cousin’s daughter Noori was seen leaving the camp and they tracked her to this place. She’d been complaining of strange dreams and then one night she just left
·       They triggered the traps in the tunnel to keep the adventurers out
Klauth – a Red Dragon – one of the oldest dragons in the land flew overhead as they approached the temple, not taking notice. He is incredibly evil. (Don’t throw stuff at him)

They take a short rest.

Each of the giant statues appear to be presenting their weapons to the Allfather like gifts. The weapons are not part of the statues and one of them is missing. The hands of the frost giant Thrim,

Harshnagg isn’t sure what they should do.

There is a giant archway with fog and giant runes.

Harshnagg points to the rune on the bottom left and says it’s the frost rune. The rune of the frost giants.

Thoradin sees some writing right at the top. Harshnagg traces his huge fingers over it.

Children of mine, enter in order
If ye seek to cross this border
Start with low, end with high
From the hills to the stormy sky

Harshnagg opens the massive double doors, it takes some time as he slams into the door and the ice shards fall from above. He turns the enormous door handle. Miss Moss asks him to peek through the door. He opens the door, all of the remaining ice shatters to the floor. He peeks through and says, “How about that?”

They peek through as well and see a giant sized dining room. It is 440 feet deep and 200 feet wide. It has huge stone slab tables with benches. On top of them there are stacks of heavily oxidised brass plates. It does not look like it has been used recently. In the centre of the chamber is a bowl-shaped dish with a fire burning. The room is warm and brightly lit with the fire pit. There are granite and stone benches throughout the room with beaten copper cups stacked. It looks unkempt.

Miss Moss asks what happens in this room and Harshnagg says, “It looks like this is where we eat. Giants like me, we make offerings to the all father and when we meet, we eat here.”

They discuss the situation a little more. They ask Harshnagg to open the door at the north. He rhythmically slams into it until it opens, creaking and echoing through the halls. This time when they look through there is no warm fire. There is a hallway heading straight up north. The floor of the hall is like a curve.

They walk in and find themselves in a chamber where there are stairs moving up into darkness and another floor above. Beyond that, on the north side of the room there is a statue, smaller than the others. It is a stone giant. It has similarly outstretched hands. There are doorways left and right. The stone giant is completely absent of emotion.

The wander down the hallway, the floor slopes up to the doorways. In the first one on the left it appears to be a bedroom. It’s all frozen but there appears to be a stone couch.

Narft points into one of the rooms and says, “Over here”.

They hear a sound. Out of the wall is an enormous boulder. They realise a few things. The boulder is the size of the hallway, they are in a kind of chute. The boulder is about to drop down into the hallway.

Leshanna casts rope trick, a length of rope meets an extra dimensional space in the air. The boulder rolls 80 feet. Londer dashes 60 feet and yells, “Run you fools!”

He uses his action surge and takes a huge tumble,he’s prone. He slides along the ground.

Gunther dashes. As he runs he yells, “good luck getting me, you’ll have to try to be boulder!” He calls out to Harshnagg, “Hey big boy, you think you can try to stop that?”

“Way ahead of you…” calls Harshnagg.

Gunther slides successfully.

Miss Moss runs and throws herself on her stomach like a penguin. The plan works but her armour makes it difficult. The ground is still stony so it catches on things.

Narft dashes away but just faceplants. Stupid Narft.

Harshnagg charges towards the boulder.

Thoradin moulds the stone underneath his feet to create a wedge shape, the idea being that the boulder will come along and stop the boulder.

Leshanna crawls up into the extra dimensional space and feels safe and silly peering out at the stone wedge.

Emboldened by the giant, Londer dashes towards Harshnagg.

Narft is still squealing in fright and dashing away from everything.

Gunther uses his feline agility.

Miss Moss slides on the bag of holding.

Buoyed by Londer’s bravery and foolishness, Harshnagg runs with all he has at the boulder. Londer appears next to him. Harshnagg manages to make the boulder come to a stop, just as it catches on the wedge and it stops in place.  The boulder comes to a complete stop. All the doors and the forcefields open. In the south side of the hall they can hear stone begin to move and footsteps.

The stone giant has come to life. It walks slowly and senselessly up the ramp.  They can see that the statue is senseless, almost like a robot walking up to the boulder. Eventually it gets to the boulder and it starts walking up the ramp and pushing the boulder up to where it came from. Once it reaches the end it magically pushes the boulder through the wall until it disappears. The stone giant statue walks back to its plinth.

Narft calls out, “Hey, I found something before all this started! In here”

He takes them into one of the rooms, just like the others it has a stone couch and bed – but on one side, there is a fissure making a cave that leads into darkness. It doesn’t look to be part of the structure.  Everything else is granite or stone artisan creations and this is almost like a cave.

Londer peers inside with his torch. He is met with a very long, winding, narrow and straight cave. All except Leshanna and Harshnagg go in. Harshnagg can’t fit and Leshanna stays with him.

They reach an intersection that branches north and south. The cave is about 10 foot high and 5 foot wide. The tunnels are extremely difficult to get their footing on, there is frost covering everything. Once they get to the intersection, they hear something familiar. It’s like the chittering of insects, little things stuttering and movement in the shadows.  There are spiders.

Miss Moss yells out to Leshanna and makes a special bird noise that travels extra far. Leshanna apologises to Harshnagg for ditching him, but the bird noise tells her she’s needed. She jogs down the hallway but it’s going to take a long time to get there.

The spider attacks, spitting at Miss Moss. It doesn’t make contact but its intentions are clear. A second spider webs Miss Moss. Another webs Londer.

Thoradin casts spirit guardians around himself and hits one of the spiders with Spiritual weapon.

Gunther casts Thunder Clap.

Miss Moss is still webbed, Londer breaks out.  He swings with the Great Khan. He hits. He gives his second attack to Thoradin as a Commander’s strike.

Thoradin smashes the spider near him with a warhammer.   The spider webs and misses.  It finds itself amongst the spirt guardians who tear into the spider, leaving scorched radiant wounds of radiant damage.
