Londer and Thoradin with the barbarians (and last minute addition of Miss Moss and Leshanna) just fought some robed creatures on beasts, as they appear to have shrunk the boulder relic. Gunther was tied to the bow of the great red dragon boat that floats above. The creatures one by one burrowed underground, leaving great holes. Arznan (the barbarian chief) called out “Bring out the sky ponies” —————————————————————- Loot: Gasseous form spell scroll (Leshanna’s inventory. Last week (flash backs) | At the top of the plateau, Thoradin offers to care for the precious boulder to help protect the relic. He gestures to the dragon boat above and shows the shield, mounted on the side as an example of another tribe’s relic they are caring for. Arznan says that the blood is still fresh. He waves his axe and motions for his people to go back into the forest. As Londer, Miss Moss and Leshanna hang back and discuss the boulder, Thoradin walks with the chief and takes a slight aim at the cowardice of the tribesmen, apart from him. The barbarians look at Leshanna in particular with suspicion. The camp seems nomadic, transitory. There are no fires burning but lots of barbarian tribesfolk wandering around. The chief introduces Thoradin to the affable shaman. She smiles broadly. She is whittling something that seems like a four legged figure. The other adventurers and tribe folk come into the camp. A couple of teenage female barbarians have been admiring her and they think she is very cool and muscly. tThey are Osler and Lefond. Londer greets the Shaman and gives her 100g pieces as a gesture. Her face darkens and she throws them at him, hitting him in the forehead. She starts laughing and some of the tribes folk join in, as do the adventurers. Arzan laughs and says “We no have shops.” They all laugh a little more. Miss Moss offers some jerky to the barbarian shaman who gobbles it up. Londer collects all his gold. Miss Moss notes that her gift was better. Leshanna and Miss Moss duck off together to have a bit of a chat and a young barbarian challenges Londer. He doesn’t respond. The young barbarian is barked at by the leader. His name is Ofros. Thoradin quizzes the Shaman on her role and her place in the tribe. They are hitting it off. She explains the revered position of the Shaman in the Utgarde tribes – she says this can be difficult with the dislike of magic and she assures him that she is not magic. Shamans are tapped into the spirit world. They use totems and spells from spirits. The Shaman confides in Thoradin, and Londer hovers inappropriately close nearby. Thoradin introduces Londer and they begin a feast. Thoradin offers to heal the chief. The night falls. Londer goes up and slaps the barbarian who challenged him before as hard as he can. He offers him a horn of ale. They bond. Londer gives him 10g. Leshanna stands in the corner like a weirdo, aware that her magic has made her less desirable. Miss Moss brings over her new friends to make it less awkward, it’s slightly less awkward. Thoradin and Arznan go outside and Thoradin heals his wound with the arrow sticking out. That arrow was right next to his heart and at any point it was potentially lethal. Arznan falls to the ground and almost weeps. He puts his arm on Thoradin’s shoulder and they walk back towards the feast. On the way he goes into his chief shelter. He puts a rolled canvas object in his robes and takes it over to Thoradin and gives it to him, asking him to tell no one. He quickly makes his way away. Thoradin makes his way into the shadows and looks at what he has been given – it is a Wizard spell scroll. He tucks it into his coat and makes his way back to the party. Meanwhile, Gunther has built a stage in the corner and is performing a dramatic reenactment of their recent adventures. It is a fucking amazing show. Incredibly good story telling. Even those joining half way through the show love it. The night wears on, drinks are had. Thoradin gives the spell scroll to Leshanna. They all return to the boat, except Gunther. The show must go on. As they arrive back, they see the shape of the large balloon above. Miss Moss does the special whistle to lower the ladder – they climb up on top of the plateau. The boulder is gone. Miss Moss scuttles up the ladder and asks the boat people if they saw anything. They stare at her blankly. Thoradin races back to tell the chief who looks at him in horror, with deep distrust. Some of them come running back from the camp. There is a sense of panic and chaos as they look for any trace. Londer notices human footprints around the area where the stone was – three, maybe four sets. Footsteps came from the south and left to the south. Thoradin gestures to the tracks so the chief can see and they all begin to prepare to head south. Miss Moss, Leshanna and Gunther are in the boat above, They ran after the tracks until they came across four figures, one ran behind a very light tree. Thoradin and Londer go into stealth and flank up on either side. They make their way up to the tree with the villages moving up with them. From behind the tree a robed figure jumps out. Sacred flame comes raining down on Thoradin who dives for cover. They fight and Londer and Thoradin defeat him, burning him to the ground. Through the ground they feel tremors in the earth. The whole place seems to shake. Erupting from the ground, two enormous creatures come burrowing up through the dirt with filled necks protruding. Sitting on their back are two figures, similar to the one that was just burnt. dressed in robes, riding the enormous beasts. The beasts are horrific. They are in the distance. Leshanna sends a message to Thoradin to tell him that they are above with the boat. Thoradin wants to stay and fight. Miss Moss and Leshanna move down to investigate and eventually jump down to help. Gunther has tied himself to the bow of the ship and is crying out for help, unheard. Londer fights the one of the beasts. In the darkness a robed figure jumps onto one of the beasts. The tribes folk join in. The fight continues. One by one, the creatures burrow under the earth. Arznan calls out into the forest. “Bring the sky ponies.” |
