Achievements: Decoded the runes on the archway, entered and summoned the Oracle. Where we left off: The adventurers and Harshnagg are standing in the middle of the room with four of six lanterns burning, ready to ask another question of the Oracle and bickering a little, while the cloud giant spirit looks on. They need to learn how to get to the court of Hecaton and root out the evil, so that the Allfather will restore the ordening. |
Last week (flash backs) | They have been flung upwards into the ceiling, all but Thoradin taking enormous damage as they hit the roof. Thoradin manages to catch onto the wall. Miss Moss blacks out. They all scramble to heal each other, drink potions and gather themselves. Leshanna empowers herself and Miss Moss with flight.The magic begins to subside. Harshnagg rushes over towards Londer, grabs him and hugs him to his chest. He falls with tremendous force, leaving an imprint in the floor. For a moment he is completely still before he gathers himself. The others climb or fly down.After a long rest, they try again, this time the club appears to have been correct, bottom left. The next – stone boulder and the middle left rune – was wrong. The gravity effect happened again, but this time they are prepared. They swing from the ceiling and Harshnagg flies around gigglingAfter some discussion, and testing – and Thoradin calling on his divinity – they manage to decode the runes order. They pass through the arch way. On each corner of the room is a life-size statue of a giant – six of them. Each holds a heavy iron lantern with an outstretched arm. In the centre of the room is the corpse of a cloud giant – it has been dead for a very long time. Nearby lies a mace.From the corpse, a blue translucsent light emits until it takes shape and presents a figure of a ghostly cloud giant. They greet him in their characteristic ways. He is a forlorn spirit. The Allfather predicted a great upheaval in the Ordening. He told the giant, Igorn, that he should step out from the shadows of his father’s dark influence. He and his father, Blagakus, fought a fierce battle and Igorn was slain.On the floor under a thin layer of frost is a 20ft rune, covering a large part of the centre of the rune. It is the King rune.In dwarven language, written on the floor were the words: “Ask your question, and know truth.”They ask the following questions: How do we restore the Ordening? The only one to do it is the Allfather. He disrupted it to rouse his children from their complacency. Only he restores the ordening.One of the six lanterns goes out. How can we get the Allfather to restore the ordering? Root out evil in the court of the Storm Giants – the storm giant King Hecaton. His queen and the whole court has gone and there is no-one sitting on the throne. The adamantine rods have been an attempt to please the Allfather · Up in the spine of the world there is a place called the Eye of the Allfather – it’s a long and dangerous walk. Up there is an oracle. · The Allfather may be willing to talk to the heroes, if not to the giants. |
