New characters: Gargoyles, scorpions

Miss Moss examines the worms, they are carnivorous, carrion worms that feed on dead flesh. She gently starts putting her hands into the pile of treasure, moving things around as she goes. Trying to silently search to find anything that feels like a pouch.  She slips things into the bag of holding

She finds 200 gold pieces of gems and a silver pouch with a Y on it, matching the description of the missing pipeweed pouch. She does another check and finds 200gold pieces of gems and a bow that glows with energy. One of the worms turns to look in their direction. They bravely run away.

They come out into the bright daylight, squinting in the sun.  Above, the dragons who were fighting stop and they notice the adventurers.  They begin to desecend.

Around there are the buildings, the docks. They sprint under the docks. Felgalos calls out, “Chums! They’ve got you chums! Run! Take cover!” He runs out in his halfling form, trips over and as he comes up he turns into the Bronze dragon and swoops into the sand. He starts flying up to meet the dragons. “I’ve got you guys, run for it!”

Rillix flies out out Leshanna’s cloak and takes off towards the stone door without any hesistation.

The gargoyles are jumping off the perch and coming towards the adventurers. Londer picks up the bow and it hums with a strong magical energy. It has elvish writing on the bow. Leshanna realises it is Oathbow. When you load an arrow, it whispers in elvish, “Swift death to my enemies.”  If the person says “Swift death to you who have wronged me” it will make a sworn enemy of the target. The bow is sentient and can make enemies.

The adventurers dash towards the stone door in the west. One of the dragons notices Felgalos and roars in recognition. He begins to dash towards Felgalos. The two dragons burst into each other, smashing and tumbling into each other in the air.

A gargoyle comes up and swipes at Thoradin and it glances of the armour – both claws miss.  Another gargoyle tries the same and misses. A second swipe catches him.

Londer rallies Thoradin and runs again, closer to the door. Leshanna follows right behind.  Londer and Miss Moss become frightened by the dragons.

The blue dragon crashes Felgalos into the ground, ripping into his scales. Felgalos lets out a scream. They shout to each other in dragon. The gargoyles start moving towards Thoradin.  The other dragon dashes, landing on the ground and letting out a huge roar. This is not the first time Thoradin has encountered gnawing thrashing creatures and he has an innate ability to stare it down. Thoradin slides back, going down into an action pose and stares back at him with steely eyes. The dragon lets out a howl and roar into the sky and Thoradin laughs. Leshanna arches one eyebrow at the dragon and turns her back.

Thoradin notices that the dragon appears to be exhausted, it’s breathing deeply and seems to have over exerted itself in its skylarking.  Thoradin runs through a room to try to get away from the dragon and the gargoyles. As he bounds past a pile of rubble, two giant scorpions emerge. One critically hits Thoradin, but his adamantine armour helps him evade it. He shakes it off.

Leshanna and Londer keep running west. One of the dragons shoots electricity at Felgalos. He regroups, opens his mouth and fires one back, devastating the dragon. He falls onto his back into the dirt.

“Good one, Felgalos!” calls Miss Moss, running towards the door.

The dragon attacks, swinging its tail at Leshanna and hitting hard. It claws at Londer and misses once, hits the second time.

A scorpion attacks again, but misses Thoradin.

Londer rallies Leshanna, dashes and is hit again by the dragon.  They run towards the door as fast as they can. The dragons fighting again clash above them.  Miss Moss runs for the door. Thoradin runs too – they push open the door and move out. The dragons let out a roar of anguish but there is no indication they are coming out. They are in the corridor. Some healing and gathering themselves and then they examine the pipeweed.

The herbs are otherworldly, maybe even from the realm of the gods. It is radiating unfamiliar and powerful extra-planar energy. It would give them a blessing if they smoked it.

They look again at the Oathbow and learn that the bow can have one sworn enemy at a time and that it will be the enemy either until it dies or until the dawn 7 days later. Miss Moss takes the bow.

Londer makes his way along the tunnel and peeks through the door. Thoradin heals Londer and Leshanna and himself and takes a long rest. They hear a flapping sound above, bronze in the sky. He is hurt. He changes into his halfling self, wounded and bleeding but looking pretty jolly.

“Felgalos, we’ve got your weed!”

“Hooray! You little beauty! I knew you would!”

Thoradin heals him (a little bit) and Felgalos is so happy he gives them half the pipe weed.

They begin to move out the door, after just a few steps they hear a low, rumbling, unfamiliar voice.

“How terrible…”

The statue of the dragon on the plinth is speaking.  A lady dragon. “It’s so embarrassing to see my feeble offspring defeated by small people and a fumbling metallic. At the moment I’m dealing with more pedestrian matters but your time will come and you will know my vengeance. The doom of the desert abides no insolence.”

The statue explodes. They take some damage.

Felgalos offers to take them home, they make some harnesses to secure themselves to the dragon’s back.

He transforms to his dragon form… “Please, climb aboard the Felgalos express”

They fly due west.
