Last week (flash backs) | They wake aboard the dragon boat and assemble in Londer’s room to plan ahead. They agree to search for the entrance to the Shaman’s hideout and will attempt to charm the Shaman. They head towards the area where the cavern was and work out roughly where the entrance must be. They traipse through the snow, sometimes knee deep and find an area with a series of rocks. They see a dark gap between them. When Leshanna reaches her hand out she can feel the cold air in the gap between them. Thoradin senses a trap is nearby. There is something magical just inside the cave. Leshanna dispels it. With the magic gone, they all strain to remove the rocks and creep in. A room appears ahead. They see a figure that they are sure is Kralk turn and look towards Rillix. He appears to be levitating as he turns. He drops his feet down as he turns. He dashes out the door. The room is a dome, not dissimilar to the ones they slept in. There is a four poster bed with no mattress that has been singed. Everything is covered in ash. There are bowls and broken piece of furniture. One bowl in the corner is intact and black.Rillix flies over to the bowl, it’s a scrying bowl, used by magical people to take readings. Leshanna summons Rillix back and passes on the information to the others. Thoradin becomes aware of Kralk’s movement. He’s moving quickly away from the cave out towards the village. After a while he gets the sense the he’s moved through the village and is beyond it. They head back out of the cave and make bird noises to summon the dragon boat. When it appears they jump for the rope ladders and hold on. Thoradin gestures where the Shaman is running. Kralk is now in the plains. They are heading towards him in the boat. They’ve passed the village, in the darkness ahead they can see footsteps in the snow and they can see him and three others, clearly the guards they had seen with him before. As Leshanna prepares to charm them, Thoradin throws a net over them. Miss Moss fires quickly and does some damage to Kralk. Leshanna charms the guards who suddenly see her as a friendly acquaintance and begin admiring the boat. One of them is netted, the other wanders around. As one escapes from the net, Gunther charms Kralk with a festive bag-pipe performance. Kralk suddenly drops his weapon and begins to dance to the music. Just as this happens, Noori and Narft come running over the hill. As Noori rushes up, Kralk makes some amiable noises. [time jump]Back in the tent, Noori is cleaning the blood off her axe. She has decapitated Kralk. Immediately the mood began to change. A great weight seemed to be lifted. Noori can see through the fog that was around her perception before. She invites them to join the great Mid-Winter Feast. They walk back into the cavern in the enormous room. In the middle, the altar rises up. As they approach it, they see a shifting, circling serpent creature – green and gold. It appears to be phasing in and out of existence. In their heads they hear the voice from their dream. “You have done a great deed. As promised, we will bestow on you a favour”. They feel celestial warmth and light. They have been charmed with a Charm of Restoration. They head out hunting with Narft and the barbarians.Back in the cavern it is Candle Nights, the festival of mid Winter. Flaming torches light the room. The tables are decorated with berries and fruit. The adventurers have been given a place of honour at the front of the room. The food is not delicious. Londer starts an impromptu grapple with the barbarians and they all line up to have a turn. They conference with Noori and explain that they need the relics to be able to restore the ordning and to prevent everyone being ripped asunder. She agrees that the other tribes will not be eager to hand over the relics, so she asks them to come with her. Inside her tent she goes into a chest and brings out a stone carved dragon – if you present this to anyone from the Utgarde they will know that you have our favour. They hear a great crack outside – a crack of extra planar energy. They rush out, they can see the great purple clouds. They see something fly across the sky pulled by reindeers. A child rushes over and starts cheering. The thing flies around above them with white dust covering them. A package falls down from the sky. The figure continues on its way. Gunther rushes over to open it, pushing the child out of the way. Inside is a Christmas stocking. The child gasps, “It’s a Sock of Holding.” and Gunther and the child headbut each other. When he grows up, he wants to be just like the Adventurers. Londer feels overwhelmed with benevolence and makes him a gift of 500 gold. They take the shield-relic (half shield) and attach it to the side of the dragon sky ship. Upon close inspection, it’s clearly made of dragon scales, which makes the dragon cult very uncomfortable. |
