Last week (flash backs) | It is late afternoon, they are getting ready to camp for the night. Londer expresses some general aggression towards the Mantacor. The Barbarian folk pretend not to listen but are listening. There is some muttering. Thoradin investigates the altar. It is dense stone. 9 foot long, 6 foot wide and 3 foot high. Londer saunters up to the fire and does some macho stuff with the Utgarde and then says…”Smooshy, what’s smoothy?” Gunther shadows him. Two senior guys respond. “Smooshy is giant beast. We give Smooshy food, he not eat us.” Londer suggests they make him a pet. Leshanna is sitting near the Shaman, looking for a chance to make friends. Confronted by questions about their reason for being here, Miss Moss pretends she’s sick and leaves the barbarians debating what geographical means. Londer decides he’s going to tell them. Somehow, he and Gunther are the only ones left. Thoradin and Leshanna notice what’s happening. Londer and Gunther tell them how they are Giant Killers and begin to perform. They want the relics to kill giants. There is some disagreement within the crowd. Londer suggests they let the gods decide. He challenges the chief to a duel. “Very well. You will fight Smooshy.” The Red Tiger tribe and the Black Lion tribe protect the relic, they will not let the adventurers take the relic. Leshanna moves over to speak with Thoradin about a magic plan. Gunther singles out an Utgarde who seemed supportive of the relic sharing-giant-killing option. They meet Um, another Uthgarde. Gunther apologises to Leshanna and then kisses her. They are being watched. Rillix attacks Gunther in his head and it takes all Leshanna’s might not to cast a spell. They meet with Um and Name, devise a plan to take the relic the following night, while their barbarian ally is in charge of guarding. They return to their tent and share the news. They plan the attack. They will summon the boat and use a silence and alarm spell. In the morning they enjoy some more hospitality. They hunt for deer and return with some and have a big party roast. Eating, drinking and merriment abounds, with some encouragement from the adventurers. They make their way stealthily along to the south. Nearby a figure moves. It is Um. Thoradin casts silence. Leshanna casts and alarm. They attempt to lift the stone, 3 times with no success. Thoradin casts a spell through the stone. They can see dimly in the dirt below. Thoradin climbs down and sees the skeletal remains of an orc. A niche in the side reveals a fossilised horn, which looks like it may be a tusk from a mammoth. It is engraved with images of dragons and giants fighting. Thoradin casts silence again and they all use a rope to pull the tusk out through the cavern. Londer fills up the great big hole with dirt and sprinkles some leaves over the top. Um laugh awkwardly. |
