Last week (flash backs) | They pull the mammoth tusk out with a rope. Londer fills up the great big hole with dirt and sprinkles some leaves over the top. Um laugh awkwardly. Londer swings his great axe at Um. Um ducks and gives Londer an Uppercut. Londer gives a great laugh. Miss Moss smacks Londer on the chin. Miss Moss reprimands him, we don’t hit our friends. Um wants to come along, as long as Londer doesn’t hit him again. Miss Moss puts the tusk relic in the bag of holding. After a few moments a shadow passes above, they see the familiar site of the dragon boat ladder. They begin climbing up the ladder, with Um – his eyes are wide as he sees the great boat silhouetted in the moon. Just as Gunther climbs up last, he looks down and sees that the Shaman has burst out of the shadows from her resting place. She grabs holder of his leg. He manages to kick her off, but a strange expression crosses his face. The airship begins to rise. The shaman screams into the cavern. He has certainly had something happen, something magical. His eyes are blank and he appears to be in an alternate plane – possibly a comedy festival plane. He is unreachable. Back on the ship, the crew appears dishevelled. They float a little at a safe distance with snow falling around. They agree to head back to the Seat of the Allfather to reunite with Harshnagg. Um decides to make his own way through the cold mountains. They supply him with rations and he leaves and says farewell. He seems to have a little bit of a more heroic air about him. They head on towards the Spine of the World. There are blizzard conditions and frozen winds, much worse weather than when they arrived. After a long journey they arrive back at the temple. They disembark, after gathering the relics and bidding farewell to the dragon boat crew. They make their way, dragging the shield through the temple and to the room filled with statues. · Hill giant – club · Stone giant – stone boulder · Fire giant – great sword · Frost giant – shield · Cloud giant – mithral spear · Storm giant – admantine trident In the centre of the room there is one large robed statue that each of the others appear to be offering the weapons to. It is the Allfather. They move into one of the rooms with the dining area and they find Harshnagg. They show him the relics. As he touches them, runes light up gently. They head back to the statue room and touches the weapons to open the archway door. Within this room there are more statues of the various giants, this time holding lanterns. In the middle of the room there is a giant corpse. They see the ghost of Igorn the cloud giant. In the centre of the room there is mithral inlaid with dwarfish words – “Ask your question to know your truth. Miss Moss pulls out the horn and puts it into the centre of the room. It disintegrates into some magical embers and disappears. A voice booms throughout the room. (The Oracle) “You’ve done a great deed for all giants. A path opens up before you.” A bas-relief takes shape onto the wall – carved into the stone and the process is repeated for the three relics below: Fire Giant carving – Tusk At the bottom there is a Fire Giant with chained dwarf prisoners in a cavern. There is also the bust of a fearsome looking Fire Giant with an ornate helm and a red beard rise out from the stone. (The image is the same image that was carved into the pillar out the front.) Stone Giant carving – Boulder A Stone Giant climbing up the side of a mountain. Above it there is a bald headed Stone Giant bust. Frost Giant carving – Shield A Frost Giant, cutting down one of the great pine trees with an axe in hand. They see a huge white beard and the face of a horned helm – a great giant warrior. They appear to be leaders of the giants. Harshnagg recognises the leader of the Frost Giants – Yarl Storvald. They appear to be archetypal images of the giants. The stone is carved marble and very solid. They prepare to ask questions, one for each lantern (6) Oracle, tell us how do we use these pathways? They make their way back through the archway and through the statue room. They hear the crunch of footsteps on frost. The doors at the end of the corridor burst open and shatter. A blue dragon comes straight through the door, filling the full size of it, wings spread out and a horn on its nose. It looks down at them and says “Ahhh, Hello.” Harshnagg grabs his axe and immediately goes into battle pose. Harshnagg looks over and says “Run.” |
