Notable people encountered:

Tolmara: The mad widow who murdered her husband, Mirak, ten years earlier.
Orthovir: The harness maker who approached the party at the Inn to thank them for clearing his name in the case of the robbery at Lion’s Share. He has joined the fight at Triboar.

After confronting Darz, the ex-crim who runs the caravan grounds in the centre of town, ThoradinGunther, and Londer uncovered a tangled web of blackmail, burglary, and theatrical aspirations.

Kaelen Sarseer, the publican at The Talking Troll, had blackmailed Darz to rob the Lion’s Share or have his past profession as a Waterdavian thief exposed to the Lord Protector, Daratha. Weary of running, Darz turned himself in on the proviso that they took down Kaelen.

After a confrontation, Kaelen’s dreams of turning the pub into a playhouse for the town were in tatters. He was apprehended and forced to turn over himself and his ill-gotten gains.

Leshanna returned with her fancy new horse (unnamed) and both Darz and Kaelen were tied up and slung over the steed. Expecting to be turned in immediately, they were baffled to discover there was another stop on the way.

The entire party conveyed the two prisoners to Six Windows to confront the widow, Tolmara, about Helm’s message.

Devising a plan, they sent Londer and Gunther inside to book a room for the night to investigate. Thoradin waiting outside with the prisoners.

Lia, slipped into the shadows to discover a trap door leading into the attic. There she discovered Mirak’s bones. A brief fight ensued between Lia and the animated bones. Victorious, Lia collected the bones and confronted the widow.

In the kitchen, an interrogation revealed the widow, Tolmara, to have been driven insane.

The party delivered TolmaraDarz, and Kaelen to the Lord’s protector, just a few short hours after arriving in the city. The Lord Protector was convinced of their claim to be heroes. The grieving brothers scooped the dusty bones of their brother into their pouch.

  • Their first night in Triboar came to an end in the Northshield House Inn. They partied and drank into the evening. Miss Moss suffered an embarrassing arm wrestling loss to Gunther, losing a shiny gold piece after initially attempting to gain his services as a squire.
  • The brothers, Presson and Jacoby, made good on their promise and returned with Mirak’s prized +1 Longbow as a reward for discovering what remained of poor Mirak.
  • The next day, after enjoying a continental breakfast at the Inn, the party spent the morning buying supplies around town before their meeting with Daratha.
  • Daratha listened intently the party’s description of the mysterious goings-on around Phandalin and the giant attack on Nightstone. She agreed there was much reason for concern. The meeting was interrupted by screams of, ‘ATTACK!!, TO ARMS!!’ Daratha, unlocked the prisoner, Darz, threw him a weapon and together they rushed from the Lord Protector’s tower and towards the source of the commotion.
  • There they discovered a force of orogs with flaming magmins leaving a trail of fire in their wake: fields of crops aflame and townsfolk running for safety.
  • From the south, Narth, from the Lion’s Share, came running, weapon in hand – finally a chance to prove himself as an adventurer. From the north-west, Orthovir, the harness maker, and Ghelyrn Foehammer, the dwarven smith, came running to lend their arms.

And so began the Battle for Triboar.
